![]() ![]() The painting is currently located in the Mozarteum, Salzburg, Austria. This oil painting, entitled The Boy Mozart, was done in 1763, possibly by Pietro Antonio Lorenzoni (1721-1782), on commission from Wolfgang's father, Leopold. The court dress was given to him in 1762 by the Imperial Court in Vienna. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, aged 6, in court dress. Thus, although the above portrait is posthumous, it was painted after some serious research by the artist. The artist visited Mozart's sister, Maria Anna ("Nannerl"), who showed her three portraits of Mozart that she had in her possession. According to Otto Erich Deutsch in his Mozart: A Documentary Biography (1965), Krafft was commissioned in 1819 by Joseph Sonnleithner to paint this portrait, long after the composer had died. The above is a posthumous painting painted by Barbara Krafft (1764-1825). Mozart music includes many concertos, symphonies (such as the Jupiter), serenades (such as Eine kleine Nachtmusik) operas (such as The Marriage of Figaro and Don Giovanni), and much church music (such as the Coronation Mass). ![]() Despite his short life, Mozart was a prolific composer. ![]()
